If you’re not sure which option best suits your needs, this information is offered to help you decide.
For background, elearning is traditionally administered with the help of a learning platform, such as a Learning Management System (LMS). These platforms are designed to help training administrators track, assign, and distribute content to their audiences.
If your organization has more than 500 learners, we recommend using a learning platform. (OpenSesame courses work in any standards-compliant platform.) While the features they offer vary, they are generally designed to meet a training administrator's needs—such as assigning due dates, sending reminders, building specialized learning paths, and allowing recertification for learners who retake required courses every year.
- When using a learning platform, select the Download Packages delivery option. You can download packages from a List or from an individual course page in our catalog. You would then upload them to your platform.
- Some platforms also offer direct integrations with OpenSesame. If that applies, use the Send to Integration option.
If you do not have a learning platform, consider taking courses on OpenSesame's CourseCloud.
Each of your learners would need their own email address as well as access to a device with a web browser. Their email service would need to allow messages from our system and Support team. For more information, see the OpenSesame system requirements.
What if you already use a learning platform? We recommend that you continue to take advantage of it!
This is especially true if you have used OpenSesame content before, as switching from one delivery method to another can double an existing learner’s seat usage. This is because the new way to assign courses to a learner—their email address—is usually different from the one used by the learning platform—a “student ID,” which is often a random number.
