Update an individual user account in CourseCloud

To update an individual user’s account details, log in to your Learning Administrator account. Select Admin Tools and then Users.

Select Edit users.

Use the search and filter tools as needed to locate your target user. Click their User controls button and select Edit.

This opens their account details.

If you edit their email address, be aware that CourseCloud uses email addresses to identify users and assign them an OpenSesame seat license. (This is why learners cannot update their own address.)

If the user has launched courses in CourseCloud or has courses in progress, by changing their email address, CourseCloud would consider them a new learner. The user would:

1. Occupy a new OpenSesame seat license with their next launch, and
2. Be unable to access progress associated with the earlier address.

Next, the Suspended account toggle, when active, suspends the user. This prevents them from logging in to or receiving further messages from CourseCloud.

Note: If a user has occupied an OpenSesame seat license, suspending them in CourseCloud does not reclaim the seat. They occupy it until the license’s term ends.

To add a profile picture for the user, select the Files icon or the New Picture box to open a selection menu, or drag an image file to the box. (While GIF files can be used, they will not be animated.)

Of the remaining fields, only First name and Last name are required.

You can also set the user's city, country, and time zone. When a time zone is not set, it defaults to Pacific Time.

Finally, click Update profile to save the changes.
