Note: CourseCloud is a limited-access content delivery platform. If you send course invitations from OpenSesame instead, see the documentation on CourseCloud Legacy.
After you create a Learning Path, you can share it anywhere with a share link. Only people within your organization’s CourseCloud account can use these links.
In this guide:
Requirements
Before you begin, ask your IT team to allow the following address:
If it is not allowed, the share links won’t work. (If your IT team has allowed https://*.opensesame.com , no action is needed.)
Create a share link
Log in to CourseCloud as an Administrator. There are two places where you can create a share link.
First method
Select Admin Tools and then the Courses tab.
Select Learning Paths.
On the Learning Paths page, hover over any Learning Path.
- Check that the path is Active. Share links for inactive paths do not work.
- If the path is inactive, set its toggle to Active.
- Click Share.
A window with a share link appears for the path. Only administrators can generate this link.
Copy the link and share it with your learners anywhere.
You can allow any learner in your organization who is not enrolled in the path to enroll when they click the link. To check or adjust this setting, see Turn self-enrollment on or off.
Second method
To create a share link using the second method, you need to be enrolled in the Learning Path.
When you’re enrolled in the path, visit your Dashboard and select the Learning Paths tab.
Select your path. On its page, select Share.
A window with a share link appears for the path. Only administrators can generate this link.
Copy the link and share it with your learners anywhere.
You can allow any learner in your organization who is not already enrolled in the path to enroll when they click the link. To check or adjust this setting, read on!
Turn self-enrollment on or off
Each Learning Path has its own auto-assign setting. By default, it is off.
To check or adjust this setting, return to Admin Tools > Courses > Learning Paths.
Hover over the Learning Path and select Edit Path.
On the editing page, locate the Auto assign to users setting.
- When set to No, only assigned learners can access the path. If an unassigned learner uses the share link, they get an error message.
- When set to Yes, all learners in your organization’s CourseCloud account can access the path. When a learner uses the share link, they launch the first course. If they weren’t enrolled in the path, they are enrolled.
If you update this setting, click Save changes.
Stop using a share link
If you decide to stop using a link after sharing it, there are a few options.
First, if you posted the link anywhere you can edit, such as an intranet page, a Microsoft Teams message, or a Slack message, remove it from there.
- This prevents users from clicking the link and getting an error message.
Next, to stop new learners from enrolling in a Learning Path, update its Auto assign to users setting to No. (To locate this setting, see the preceding section.)
- This allows enrolled learners to continue taking the path.
- If an unenrolled learner tries to use the share link, they get an error message.
To stop all use of a Learning Path, even for enrolled learners, turn off its Active toggle.
If any learner tries to use the share link, they get an error message.
