Course pages in the OpenSesame catalog can include an AI Usage field, which shows that AI was used to create course content. Publishers choose whether to disclose this information, so coverage varies.
In this overview:
What the AI Usage field shows
When a publisher discloses that AI was used to create a course, the AI Usage field lists which categories apply.
A course can have more than one of the following categories:
- Assessments and quizzes – AI was used to generate or improve assessments and quizzes.
- Graphics and visuals – AI was used to generate or enhance images, such as graphics, infographics, illustrations, or similar elements.
- Human-like avatars – AI was used to generate avatars that mimic human appearance and expressions.
- Narration – AI was used to generate synthetic voices that provide narration.
- Outline or script generation – AI was used to generate scripts used in course content. This may include instructional text or other written materials that appear in video or audio segments.
- Translations – AI was used to translate course content. This can involve machine translation, automated translation plug-ins (such as Google Translate), or other AI-driven methods to convert the course's text, subtitles, or narration into other languages.
- Videos – AI was used to generate, augment, or edit videos. This may include background generation or other visual elements.
When it appears
The AI Usage field appears only when a publisher discloses AI use for that course. Disclosure is not required, and OpenSesame is working with publishers to make this information available for more courses.
Courses without the AI Usage field may still use AI. The publisher may not have disclosed its use.
Where to find it
When the AI Usage field is available, it appears in the Details area of the course page.
