Do OpenSesame courses qualify for accreditation or certification hours?

Yes, many of the courses in the OpenSesame elearning marketplace offer continuing education credits. However, the continuing education can be complicated, as the process for reporting credits varies from provider to provider and often depends on the organizations that track the certifications and track the continuing education credits. Those that require continuing education handle them in different ways:

Hourly requirements: In most cases there is a annual or bi-annual hourly requirement - each individual must complete XX hours of continuing education (eg: 16 hours every 2 years). All of our courses are required to have a length listed on them, for how many minutes/hours they are. This is displayed on each course page.

Reporting of Continuing Education:

Some organizations work on the honor system and require that you take continuing education and keep records on training that you have completed. They may or may not audit continuing education records.

Other organizations have requirements, but then the individual is required to self-report their courses and hours of completion (often at the time of license/certificate renewal). Our course completion certificates will suffice for reporting purposes - they contain the necessary information: name, course title, hours, date completed, etc.

The more strict organizations, require that continuing education providers and/or courses are pre-approved. Some of our course providers have courses pre-approved, for example:  RedVector has multiple courses pre-approved for various continuing education requirements. Your employees can check with the state or licensing body to see if OpenSesame or any of our course providers offered on our site are listed as approved providers.
