Compatibility with learning platforms
You can download OpenSesame course packages in either the AICC or SCORM 1.2 format—two widely used elearning standards. These packages work in any of the hundreds of learning platforms that support either standard.
Some learning platforms also offer integrations with OpenSesame.
- With an integration, you don’t need to manually download and upload course packages.
- For integration eligibility, check with your OpenSesame sales representative.
If you’re unsure whether your learning platform is among the hundreds that support AICC or SCORM 1.2, please check its documentation or contact its support team.
Compatibility with learning platform apps
Each app is built differently. If your learning platform offers an app, we recommend testing a few courses there to confirm they launch and play as expected.
Some apps open courses in a built-in or background browser. Even if this browser is one we support, the way the app handles it may affect course behavior.
OpenSesame courses are fully supported in the following browsers on desktop and mobile devices:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
For the most consistent results, use one of these browsers to access OpenSesame courses in your learning platform rather than the platform’s app. For more information about supported browsers, see the OpenSesame system requirements.
Considerations for mobile learning
Most OpenSesame courses can be played on mobile devices. To review the mobile readiness of OpenSesame Plus publishers, see the OpenSesame Plus publisher details.
In addition, mobile-compatible courses aren't always designed for smaller screens. The experience can vary depending on:
- Course length and format
- Device size and screen resolution
- Internet connection type and speed
- Learning platform apps (if used)
For example, long coding or compliance courses work best on a desktop or laptop device with a stable Wi-Fi connection. (If a connection is interrupted, progress could be lost, so we do not recommend using cellular data for compliance courses.)
If your learners take courses on mobile devices, we recommend testing courses on mobile before distributing them.
