Testing before you distribute courses can improve learner success and satisfaction as well as reduce support requests. It is especially important in restrictive settings, such as in banking, healthcare, or government.
Use the OpenSesame Test Course to confirm OpenSesame content works well in your unique IT environment. If you plan to use a high-visibility course—especially one not included in OpenSesame Plus—consider testing that as well for added assurance.

Plan
The following suggestions can be particularly helpful for larger organizations.
To begin, identify:
❏ Who will test.
❏ Where to collect results.
❏ Internal support, such as IT experts, platform administrators, or implementation specialists.
❏ Which learning platform(s) will be used to distribute courses, including any apps.
❏ The elearning file format those platform(s) need, such as SCORM 1.2 or AICC.
Next, determine the environments learners will use to take courses, such as those with:
- Firewalls
- VPNs
- Different locations (office, warehouse, in the field, etc.)
- Different device types (desktop, tablet, or mobile)
- Different browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari)
- Remote access
- Low bandwidth
- Legacy operating systems or browser versions
Optional:
❏ Create a testing timeline that supports your launch date.
❏ Share the timeline with stakeholders.
Get the test course
Get the OpenSesame Test Course and deliver it to your learning platform(s). This course checks for most OpenSesame system requirements.
Note: Some platforms offer pre-production environments, which may be described as “demo,” “QA,” “sandbox,” “staging,” or “UAT.” Test wherever is most convenient.
❏ Read the guide to the OpenSesame Test Course.
❏ Follow it to get the course to your platform(s).
Test
In the different platforms, apps, and environments you identified, launch the course.
❏ Follow the prompts to run the test.
❏ Collect the results. For more information, see the guide to the OpenSesame Test Course.
❏ Confirm that a completion and a score (85%) appear in your learning platform.
❏ Repeat the test in different environments as needed.
Conclude
Address any uncovered issues and prepare for your launch date.
❏ Review the results from different environments.
❏ If any issues were discovered, address them with your IT team and/or OpenSesame Support.
❏ Update internal stakeholders as needed.
❏ If you used a production environment and tested a different type of license than an OpenSesame Plus subscription, remove the test course package, as it will expire.
❏ Contact your OpenSesame Customer Success Manager or Implementation Specialist and let them know you are ready for next steps.
