As your organization begins to use OpenSesame, it's essential to track success using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Our Customer Success team developed the following guide after working with hundreds of organizations.
It's offered to help you:
- Identify your organization’s current stage.
- Move from early goals to advanced outcomes.
- Set and achieve goals that align with growth.
It’s also important to continue setting objectives along the way, to show value and measure your training program’s impact on your organization’s goals.
In this guide:
The Maturity Scale: Crawl, walk, run, fly
The following KPIs are built on a typical learning and development (L&D) journey:
- Crawl: Focus on foundational adoption.
- Walk: Improve engagement and consistency.
- Run: Drive efficiency, cost savings, and broader impact.
- Fly: Achieve long-term engagement and strategic impact on operations.
The KPI examples and template section gives examples of these four stages in different impact areas.
After you identify your organization’s current maturity stage in your focus areas, set goals with the classic “SMART” approach:
- Specific: Clearly define the goal.
- Measurable: Choose progress metrics you can easily track.
- Achievable: Set realistic targets.
- Relevant: Align the goal with business objectives.
Initially, setting a launch date may be the most impactful goal. Next, consider leveraging the full range of your subscription by setting a goal of subject areas to use by a certain date.
The following diagram offers examples of KPIs along the Maturity Scale.
