Simon uses your OpenSesame login, so one email address and password cover both. If you already have an OpenSesame login, skip to Log in to Simon.
In this guide:
- Accept an invitation
- Log in to Simon
- Set or reset a password
- Optional: Go to Simon from OpenSesame
- Add users
- Manage user access
Accept an invitation
When you're invited to join a Simon account, you receive an email.
The next steps depend on whether you already have a Simon account. If you do, skip to If you already have a Simon account.
If you don't have a Simon account
The email comes from info@idp.opensesame.com with the subject “Welcome to OpenSesame.”
Open the email and select Activate my Account. The link expires in 7 days. (If it expires before you use it, ask the person who invited you to resend the invitation.)
In the Set up security methods page’s Password section, select Set up.
On the password-creation page, enter a new password.
Note: If you reach a “Your session has expired” message instead, close the tab and use the emailed activation link again.
The password must be:
- At least 12 characters
- No more than 72 characters
- Different from your last 4 passwords
For greater security, use a long password that includes symbols.
Re-enter the new password to confirm it, then select Next.
This signs you in and opens Simon.
If you already have a Simon account
If you already have a Simon account and are invited to join a different one, the email comes from info@opensesame.com with the subject “[Person] has invited you to collaborate with [Organization Name] in Simon.”
Open the email and select Get Started. The link expires in 7 days. (If it expires before you use it, ask the person who invited you to resend the invitation.)
When you accept, log in with your OpenSesame email address and password. If you don't have an OpenSesame password, see Set or reset a password.
The new Simon account appears in the account menu in Simon. You can switch between Simon accounts there.
In OpenSesame, you stay in your current OpenSesame organization.
Log in to Simon
- Visit https://manager.heysimon.com
- The OpenSesame login page appears. Enter your OpenSesame email address and select Next.
- Enter your OpenSesame password and select Verify.
If you don't have an OpenSesame password or the login fails, see Set or reset a password.
Set or reset a password
Use the same password for OpenSesame and Simon. Every Simon account has an OpenSesame account, so you don't need to register.
- Visit https://manager.heysimon.com
- The OpenSesame login page appears. Enter the email address you use for Simon and select Next.
- On the password page, select the Forgot password link.
- Select Send me an email.
- Open the email from info@idp.opensesame.com with the subject "OpenSesame account password reset."
- Select Reset Password. The link expires in 15 minutes. (If the link expires before you use it, return to the login page and repeat the previous steps to send a new link.)
The reset link may open one of two pages:
- A password-creation page.
- A verification code.
If you receive a verification code:
- Return to the password-reset tab.
- Select Enter a verification code instead.
- Enter the code and select Verify email.
- This leads to the password-creation page.
On the password-creation page, enter a new password. The password must:
- Have at least 12 characters.
- Have no more than 72 characters.
- Differ from your last 4 passwords.
Renter the new password to confirm it, then select Create Password. This logs you in and opens Simon.
Optional: Go to Simon from OpenSesame
If you reach OpenSesame when you want Simon, switch from the OpenSesame menu.
- Select the OpenSesame logo.
- From the menu that appears, select Simon.
- Simon opens in a new tab.
Add users
The management of Simon team members happens in Simon.
To add someone in Simon, select your Simon profile then select Manage Team.
On the user management page, select Invite.
Enter the person’s name and email address, then select Submit.
The person receives an invitation email. For an example email and the recipient’s next steps, see Accept an invitation.
After they log in, they can edit existing courses and build their own.
Manage user access
Any active Simon team member can use the tools on that user management page to:
- Deactivate an active user.
- Resend an invitation to a pending user.
- Reactivate a deactivated user.
Deactivated users cannot access the account. Their courses remain available to active users.
