OpenSesame supports single sign-on (SSO) for different purposes: Signing in to the marketplace, launching courses, or signing in to CourseCloud®.
In this overview:
- Requirements
- Benefits
- SSO for the OpenSesame marketplace
- SSO for course launch
- SSO for CourseCloud
- Using more than one SSO option
Requirements
To use SSO, your organization:
- Must have an OpenSesame Customer Success Manager (CSM).
- Cannot use a legacy integration. If you use an OpenSesame integration and aren’t sure which type it is, ask your CSM or email support@opensesame.com.
Benefits
Users do not sign in with a separate password for OpenSesame. Your organization’s IdP, such as Okta or Microsoft Azure, authenticates users instead.
SSO for the OpenSesame marketplace
This SSO option lets administrators log in to www.opensesame.com using your organization's IdP. OpenSesame supports either OpenID Connect (OIDC) or Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) for this connection.
For more information, see How to set up single sign-on (SSO) for the OpenSesame marketplace.
SSO for course launch
This SSO option authenticates learners when they launch OpenSesame courses from an integrated learning platform that uses SSO, such as a learning management system (LMS), or from a Quick Launch Link. OpenSesame supports SAML for this connection.
For more information, see Single sign-on (SSO) requirements for using your own IdP with OpenSesame content.
SSO for CourseCloud
This SSO option lets administrators and learners log in to CourseCloud using your organization's IdP. OpenSesame supports SAML for this connection.
Before choosing this option, know that all CourseCloud users in your organization must be able to use SSO. CourseCloud does not support mixed login methods.
For more information, see Single sign-on (SSO) requirements for using your own IdP with CourseCloud.
Using more than one SSO option
You may be able to use the same IdP for logging in to the OpenSesame marketplace and for course launches. To explore this option, contact your OpenSesame Customer Success Manager.
SSO for CourseCloud is a separate connection.
