No. And for OpenSesame Plus, any available updates are automatically applied.
Our patented delivery technology uses minimal, uniquely licensed course files. As long as course licenses and file formats remain the same, there is no need to replace those files.
If you decide to switch license types—for example, from Volume to OpenSesame Plus—or file formats, such as from AICC to SCORM 1.2, then it would be necessary to swap out files. (If you have been using one file format in your LMS and want to switch, please contact us for best practices to ease the transition.)
After purchasing a course, customers can access an AICC or SCORM 1.2 file to add to their Learning Management System (LMS). When learners launch the course from their LMS, each launch is validated and course content streams from OpenSesame’s servers. Depending on the course, some content may also be supplied by its publisher’s servers.
Since the content itself is stored remotely, updates can be immediate.
OpenSesame Plus subscription courses are automatically kept up-to-date. When a learner launches an OpenSesame Plus course for the very first time, they access the most recent version available. In-progress learners continue to see the version they started unless reset, which prevents their progress from being unexpectedly lost.
For Volume and Pay Per Use (PPU) license types, the learning administrator must accept any available update from their OpenSesame Dashboard before learners will be able to access the latest version. This allows the administrator to either preview the updated version or confirm that a PPU seat price has not changed, respectively. PPU licenses are also paused when a new version becomes available, which prevents brand-new learners from starting a course (and incurring a charge) without review.
