CourseCloud is a built-in feature of OpenSesame. It allows small companies who do not have an LMS to assign OpenSesame content.
Assigning Courses via CourseCloud
After an administrator purchases a course, they will need to go to their name in the upper right-hand corner and then select “My Courses” to get back to the dashboard. Once on the dashboard, they’ll need to make sure their delivery preference is set to “CourseCloud”
Once the delivery preference is switched to “CourseCloud” the option to “Invite Team” will be visible next to any purchased courses.
Invite Single User
When the administrator clicks on “Invite Team,” they’ll get the option to add users by entering their name and email address. Once they “add” all of the names they need, they will click “send” in order to send out these invitations via email.
Bulk Invite Users
Administrators can also paste a list of users by using the “Paste email list” option to invite users in bulk
The administrator needs to enter one email address per line in the following format:
"Full Name" <firstname.lastname@example.org>
Once all the learners are added on the list, click “send” and the invitations will be sent.
NOTE: Quotation marks with rich formatting (smart quotes) will cause CourseCloud to format the invitations incorrectly. It will remove the name of the learner and add them only under their email. It will look like this:
Always make sure to use clear formatting if adding emails in bulk.
CourseCloud Standard License Invitations
If a learner is invited to a specific course on CourseCloud, they’ll receive an invitation that looks like this:
In order to start the training, they’ll need to click on the hyperlinked name of the course
Often, learners will get confused and click on “log in” or “create account” (not pictured in this image) and then not be able to access the course. This is because a CourseCloud invitation does not require login or account creation to access. The learner just needs to click on the name of the course.
If they do choose to create an account, they’ll be able to access this course (and every other course they take) later through “my courses”.
CourseCloud and OpenSesame Plus
Invitations to OpenSesame Plus via CourseCloud are a little different. Learners can be invited in one of two ways
- All of Plus
- Course Specific
All of Plus Invitations
Administrators can invite learners to all of OpenSesame Plus similar to how they invite learners to specific courses. At the top of the page there will be an option to assign Plus seats.
Once the administrator clicks “Manage” a seat can be assigned the same way they would assign a seat for a standard license.
When a learner is invited to OpenSesame Plus on CourseCloud, it looks a little different.
The learner will need to create an account through this email in order to have access to all OpenSesame Plus content. If they've created an account prior to receiving this invitation, they’ll still have to click the “create an OpenSesame account” link to sync these up. Once you do that, they’ll be able to click on any OpenSesame Plus course and start it on the course page.
Course Specific Invitations
Administrators can invite learners to specific courses exactly as they would for a standard license. When the administrator sends the first invitation a Plus seat will be used. After that, so long as the invitation matches the first one exactly, they will be able to be invited to any course in OpenSesame Plus and receive invitations as they would a standard license
Recertification in CourseCloud
CourseCloud is not designed to recertify learners. If you would like to have learners take a course again, please reach out to email@example.com. They would be happy to assist you further.
